Like most early Lego passenger cars, the Opel Rekord has a groove in the lower inside of the body that grips the edges of the chassis. A thumbnail inserted in the rear wheel wells will pull the body away from the chassis.
I first obtained an example in black, which had one broken axle mount. This was repaired with my standard method as shown in detail in an earlier post (featuring this same chassis).
Another example in dark blue had two broken axle mounts. It's shown here in separate parts.
Two replacement axle mounts fixed the chassis, and the body received a thorough polish to remove the fine scratches accumulated in play.
Once reassembled, this Opel is now an attractive toy car indeed. I'm pretty fond of the very dark blue colour it has as well.
