The Lego apartment house

Lego apartment house, mid-1950s
This Lego apartment house is based on a building included in the layout on the cover of my cardboard town plan (below, under the girl's hand). I didn't have enough small windows when I built it some 15 years ago, so those were replaced with single larger ones.

Sloped bricks didn't yet exist when the town plan was introduced. So every building shown in the photograph at the front and the illustrations on the back of the town plan have stepped roofs made from regular straight bricks. Such designs actually survived for quite a while even after sloped bricks became available.

There aren't any instructions that I know of for this building, but it's a straightforward construction as shown in the cover photograph. For the rear I simply repeated the front but without the doors.
The roof is completely made from appropriate cellulose acetate bricks. Because I ran out of acetate parts at the time, the windows and white walls are a mixture of parts in cellulose acetate and ABS. Where the yellowed parts are discoloured ABS and the whiter parts are cellulose acetate that has also warped a bit in the years since I built this house.
